Business Intelligence Data Architect

Job Description

The Business Intelligence Data Architect's role is to strategically design the information architecture for the data warehouses, data marts, and data stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability. Develops logical and physical data modeling and is responsible for data acquisition and access analysis and design. This individual reviews requests for data and data usage; researches data sources for new and better data feeds and is also responsible for assisting in defining data definition standards. Further responsibilities include:

* Will need to think like a business person and have the ability to translate business concepts and map to data architecture processes and data structure. This person will perform technical data architecture or create technical infrastructure to support the BI/Data Warehouse environment. Will focus more on translating business concepts and business models into best practices for design of metadata, data mapping, source data, etc.
* Will lead projects and run team meeting with business executives and IT.
* Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
* Develops process for capturing and maintaining metadata.
* Create conceptual, logical and physical data base models for data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores.
* Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing warehouse structure.
* Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
* Assess and cultivate strategic goals for data warehousing in conjunction with the key stakeholders.
* Design data architecture that integrates new and existing BI environments.
* Can sometimes play role as Meta Data Specialist to standardize data definitions and building the Metadata repository.
* Can sometimes play role as Data Quality Specialist to profile the data for quality control.

Requirements:

* Prior data warehouse and business intelligence experience.
* Understanding and experience in Social Networks, Internet Data.
* Solid experience with modern databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
* Working experience with Map / Reduce (Hadoop).
* Strong conceptual, relation and dimensional data modeling and data base design skills.
* Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
* This person must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work independently, make sound business decisions and drive a task to completion.
